A Mexican notary (notario público) is a licensed attorney appointed by the state government to give legal certainty to documents. Rather than only witnessing signatures, the notary drafts and authorizes public deeds, and real-property transfers, including the bank trust (fideicomiso) foreign buyers use in the restricted zone, are formalized before one.Un notario público mexicano es un licenciado en derecho con patente del gobierno del estado que da fe pública y certeza jurídica a los actos y documentos. En lugar de solo certificar firmas, redacta y autoriza escrituras públicas, y ante él se formalizan las operaciones con inmuebles, incluido el fideicomiso que usan los compradores extranjeros en zona restringida.
